It was real drama in Osun State as hoodlums invaded an NNPC mega station and brutally beat an official to a pulp over the lingering fuel crisis.
A sales representative of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Wale Olayinka, narrowly escaped death as hoodlums allegedly led by one ‘The Law’ descended on him and beat him to stupor at the NNPC Mega Station in Osogbo, Punch reports.
It was also gathered that an NNPC official, who was at the station monitoring sales of petrol collapsed following several kicks, and slaps he received from the leader of the thugs. The incident happened around 6:30pm on Friday.
The new Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps in Osun State, Mr. Olusola Ayodele, who confirmed this while speaking to journalists at the station on Monday condemned the attack.
He said, “Some thugs came and beat the NNPC official up. It is wrong for anybody to take the laws into their own hands. No matter what happens, you don’t have any right to beat attendants or their bosses”
The NSCDC boss also said that his men had succeeded in stopping people from buying fuel in jerrycans. According to him, most of those buying in jerrycans are reselling the product at a very high price.
Ayodele later led his men to raid a bush opposite the filling station where they were able to arrest one of the black marketers.
