Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has gone on Twitter to call out the federal and state government over the recent poor power generation and the high bills being sent to areas like Ikeja in Lagos.
“This Lagos Govt talking about taxes and persecuting people and what rubbish? Are you kidding me?” Jalade-Ekeinde continued. “I pay my taxes, buy my own security, generators, fuel, road and many more…are you going to refund me?” She asked, and added her gradually trending hashtags, #insensitivity #dontpushme
Nigerians on social media are already responding to the campaign, and it is all thanks to the decline in power generation that has thrown the nation in darkness.
PUNCH reported that the nation’s power generation declined to zero megawatts on thursday, leading to a 3-hour nationwide blackout.
This massive failure has been attributed to pipeline vandalism and ongoing challenges in the downstream petroleum sector.
And so, why would citizens be overwhelmed with bills when no services were rendered, Jalade-Ekeinde asks. “One of the biggest fraud in Nigeria is the PHCN,” the screen goddess wrote, adding, “In Ikeja, there’s no meter, No LIGHT EVER and they still bring bills!high bills!#dontpushme!”
