Police were alerted after the woman appeared at a neighbour's door asking for assistance
A mother from Texas has been arrested after telling police officers she put her two-year-old daughter in the oven.
Tasha Hatcher of Glen Rose, Texas, has been charged with injury to a child and is being held on $300,000 bond.
The child is believed to have suffered second and third degree burns.
According to the Glen Rose Reporter, Somervell County Sheriff’s Department was first alerted by a neighbour of Hatcher's, after she appeared at her door last Thursday asking for assistance with her daughter’s injuries.
The girl was initially taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, and transported via air ambulance to a centre in Dallas specialising in burns.
Hatcher's neighbours were "shocked" by the incident, Fox 8 reports, having believed her to be an "attentive and loving mother."
The child, who is understood to be in stable condition, has been taken into custody by Child Protective Services.
Her family have been told not to make any contact with her pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
